In his lecture "Digital logistics collaboration – a (r)evolutionary cloud platform for anyone involved in logistics", Johannes Weigand, managing director of FIS-iLog GmbH explains how logistics players in the RTP management can make savings of 20-30% or more of the usual process costs – i.e. non-integrated records using paper documents or excel.

The platform is hosted by FIS and is available across UK/Europe – an electronic logbook of returnable transport assets. The solution integrates with ERP and Accounts software – not restricted to SAP users.

FIS Brings the Right Processes into the Mobile World

Enterprises across all industries already benefit from the advantages of mobile technologies. Simpler interface designs are essential for a “location-independent” working environment.
With Fiori apps and its UI5 tool, SAP provides the technology for designing more simple working environments. As an SAP Partner Centre of Expertise, FIS has extensive experience in the development of mobile apps for SAP ERP. Because of our expertise and depth of knowledge, FIS re able to make intelligent use of the new technology standards and be the partner of choice for SAP customers with requirements of Fiori app mobile applications developments.
Usability is one of the most important criterion for Web and mobile functions. With the new technologies, SAP has taken a major step forward. Previously, only a restricted number of input fields were available. Now several hundreds of controls are provided via SAPUI5, which can be used to design user interfaces in a much more flexible framework.
The FIS Development team engineers offer their customers the required proficiency in Fiori apps.
In the process of targeted usability consulting, qualified procedures detect usability weaknesses (usability testing) and user requirements (requirement analysis) and find out what the user really needs (User Centred Design).
With its launch-pad-compliant FIS/edc® app for invoice approval, FIS was the first organisation to show how consistent usability orientation works with invoice processing. The mobile app strictly follows the Fiori “1-1-3 Experience" design principle. This focuses on a specific users (role) and a definitive task that has to be processed via three navigation steps or less.
Previously, FIS Information Systems has provided an appropriate app for creating SD sales projects for the “technical” wholesale industry - and many more apps are now imminent.
Stefan Seufert, certified Usability Engineer and Senior Consultant SAP Development at FIS GmbH states: "Our development team are working intensively on the standard Fiori apps to find the best technical and best business fits for our clients. We always endeavour to find processes that would benefits from mobile technologies. In the very simplest form, FIS extend the standard software or add our own UI5 developments. FIS follows the premise of 'Show FIS your process and we will illustrate how to best mobilise it'."

Karro Food – savings with statement processing

Karro Food – savings with statement processing

With pressures to process more financial documents from suppliers and customers, Karro Food Group look intensely at current business processes to question whether savings can be made whilst maintaining data quality. Karro already process supplier invoices in paper and email attachment using FIS tools – FCI and FIS / edc (invoice monitor). The solution is optimised to create a significant ‘blind booking rate’ for invoices – i.e. invoices booked with zero-touch from Karro shared service staff.
Karro used to view all reconciliations against data in SAP manually. This work has been significantly diminished by comparing the data from the statements and the data in SAP electronically – only the statements with different values are presented.
The advanced practice of using more EDI and electronic documentation means that the Karro accounts team can focus on more value added tasks.
Sharon Bennison, Systems and Business Process Improvement Manager for Karro Foods heads the progressive strategy. ‘There is pressure from the business to make all processes within Karro as efficient and effective as possible. We are always on the lookout for making savings and the vendor statements monitor utilises many of the FIS technologies we have already. Replacing labour-intensive tasks with more effective IT technologies means that our existing team is able to manage increasing workload as our business expands’.

Browsing the Online Shop on the Apple Watch

Ordering using wearable technologies – a first for this new function of the FIS/eSales® Mobile Shop.
Mobile access to information is ubiquitous nowadays and apps are optimised for their use on mobile devices as well as business desktop applications.
Recently, FIS have created an addition to FIS/eSales® - providing a Mobile Shop that many existing FIS users have installed on their own tablets and smartphones. The app is used primarily to place orders with their suppliers or to review documents related to accounts documents such as purchase orders and invoices etc.
Now, FIS has extended the breadth of the technology scope by developing an Apple Watch app as the first wearable device that can be used to browse and order goods.
Only functions corresponding to the size of the Smart Watch will be available to the user. Via "Siri" voice recognition, the user “enters/speaks” a search term and the specific products are retrieved. The user can now browse through goods via their watch, call the desired product (including detail information) and place into the shopping basket.
At the FIS 2015 Innovation Day, this app was presented to our clients for the first time with a promise of a version for Android wearables to follow. This first project of its type demonstrates that the FIS applications can run on the latest devices as a leading developer at the leading edge of mobile technology.
